Some Reviews
Laura has been painting fulltime for about nine years, and her contemporary style has become one of the more easily recognisable of current Irish artists. She has cited as her influences artists such as Constable and Cezanne, althought it is the influence of Turner which is probably the most apparent in her current works.
"I have always painted colour, energy and vibrancy.... When I start, I don't know how my paintings will finish, and thats exciting. I let the paintings emerge, become its own person"
In this regard, Laura Mulligan is not dissimiliar to the great Irish Expressionist, Anne Madden. And, like Madden, it is impossible to capture the energy, the wildness or the serenity , in words.
